Job Description:
The Department of Art at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Ceramics.Description of Responsibilities:

  • Primary teaching responsibilities include Introductory and Advanced Ceramics
  • Secondary teaching responsibilities include 3-D Design and/or Sculpture
  • Additional teaching responsibility includes expanding knowledge of diversity, historical, theoretical, critical and contemporary global/multicultural practices in the visual arts.
  • Further teaching responsibilities include kiln firing, and management of a large ceramics studio.
  • Departmental responsibilities include being involved with program planning, assessment, and curriculum development.
  • Other Departmental/University responsibilities include staying current on health and safety issues; participation in campus governance, department service, and academic advising; commitment to research/creative activity.

Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the Art Department has over 300 undergraduate majors in degree programs in Art, Art History and Graphic Design. These programs include the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). Additionally, undergraduates can elect to minor in art, graphic design, expressive art therapy, museum studies, or arts management. The Department also offers an MA degree in Art and Graphic Design as well as an MAT in Art Education.Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

  • MFA with concentration in ceramics
  • Demonstrated teaching ability and knowledge to promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community
  • An active art career as evidenced by current work and exhibitions
  • Digital literacy

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at university level

Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience
