Ceramic Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is pleased to host the third
bi-annual Iowa Clay Conference. In conjunction with the conference –
this show – “River to River” will highlight the richness and diversity
of ceramic art within Iowa and across the Midwest. Participation is open
to all artists 18 years of age or older living in Iowa, Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan,
Ohio, North Dakota and South Dakota. Work submitted must be original,
must use clay as the primary material, and must have been completed
within the last 2 years.


Bede Clarke:

Clarke has been a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri since
1992.  He received his Master of Fine Arts from The University of Iowa
(1990) and a BFA from Eckerd College (1982).  Bede’s work is found in
public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad.  Bede maintains a studio in Columbia, Missouri where he produces his ceramic art work and continues to exhibit worldwide.  Bede
is currently working with wheel thrown wood-fired stoneware vessels and
with large wall tiles emphasizing abstract drawing and color.  He is
interested in making work, which like a good meal leaves a healthy, full


There will be a $300 prize for Best in Show, as well as two $100 Merit Awards.

Hand Delivered Work to The Ceramics Center: August 26th-28th
Conference Reception: Saturday, October 3rd, 6-8PM
Iowa Clay Conference: October 2-4
Pick Up Art Work: October 4th @ Coe College after 2PM

Entry Fee

Artists pay a $30 entry fee for up to three images of three submissions.
