AX Ceramics Centre Coordinator AX, the Arts and Culture Centre of Sussex, is seeking a Ceramics Centre Coordinator to help launch our ceramics centre, coordinate ceramics classes for the public,maintain inventory and studio equipment, fire kilns, and help us launch and coordinate our AX Evolution [Emerging Artist]program.This is a contract position for 30 hours/week, paid for,in part,through the provincial Youth Employment Fund, so candidates must be between the ages of 18-29 to qualify; we can help you navigate the enrolment process. As the successful applicant, you will have your own office and studio in a new, fully equipped ceramics centre. You will benefit from working with experienced ceramists and will be essential in helping to launch our Evolution [Emerging Artist] ceramics program. You will have access to kilns and a wheel as well as other professional equipment. Because the position is only 30 hours per week, you’ll have time to pursue other professional goals while earning a reliable income. Along with other artists and administrators, you will help organize AX’s ceramics arts programming, with opportunities to earn additional income as an instructor.

Responsibilities:

•Work with other ceramists, volunteers, and AX staff to help create and launch the AX Ceramics Program•Organize and coordinate AX’s ceramics programming and workshops, with opportunities to earn additional income as an instructor

•Determine and contact appropriate mentors for the Emerging Artist program,and schedule meetings in collaboration with the Ceramics Committee; track and report on program milestones

•Coordinate a biannual emerging artist ceramics exhibition

•Other duties as determined by the AX Executive and Artistic Director and the ceramics committee. Ideally, you are enrolled in or are a recent graduate of a ceramics program.

There will be some on-the-job training.
