Expressions of Interest are now open for exhibitions scheduled between January and June 2027. Montsalvat welcomes proposals from solo artists, collectives, independent curators, and community groups working across a wide range of practices.

We are a heritage arts precinct where exhibitions sit within an active cultural environment of making, education, public programming, seasonal visitor activity, and site-wide engagement.

Entries are open for the $10,000 national, acquisitive Clunes Ceramic Award 2026 exhibition, showcasing outstanding contemporary ceramic practice, in partnership with the @artgalleryofballarat and @castlemaineartmuseum, supported by the Hugh D. T Williamson Foundation.
Commendation Awards also presented alongside the major $10,000 prize at the opening event.
The successful Award is celebrated for its creativity and innovation, attracting ceramicists from across Australia.

2027 Potter in Residence — Open Call 🏺County Hall Pottery
We’re inviting applications for a year-long residency at County Hall Pottery, Waterloo, London.
This opportunity is open to makers working with clay in all its forms, from functional ceramics and design to fine art, experimental, and material-led practices.
✨ What’s on offer:
– Dedicated studio space with 7-day access
– Free use of kilns, clay, and materials
– Professional support within a working ceramics studio
– Paid teaching opportunities + a solo exhibition in Dec 2027
This is both a residency and a role within the studio, contributing 20 hours per week to our programme while developing your own practice.
We’re looking for someone confident in a professional ceramics environment, excited to engage with a creative community, and ready to bring their own skills into the space.

Soroche de los Andes is a multidisciplinary studio–home in the Ecuadorian Andes where craft, nature, daily life, and artistic practice coexist as part of the same ecosystem.
We invite artists, makers, designers, researchers, and creatives interested in developing independent projects within a space for reflection, experimentation, and shared learning.
Residents have access to ceramics, printmaking, and woodworking workshops, private accommodation, gardens and orchards, and the possibility of organizing workshops or a final exhibition during their stay.

movie day: Making of a Blueware Vase
Blueware Vases are the result of a process that captures direct impressions of botanical specimens on ceramics using light and photo sensitive chemicals.
Using age-old preserving techniques, humble weeds of inner London borough pavements are pressed, dried and then composed between plates of glass that function like photographic negatives. Working with light sensitive chemicals, the plates and tiles are then exposed under ultra violet light, which develops a photogram of the specimens in intense Prussian blue. What remains is a crisp white silhouette of the specimens, creating intricate floral designs of the subjects from root to tip.
This film shows the pressed designs incorporated into a vase.
