Duties and Responsibilities
This position will work closely with the museum’s director, senior curator and curator of ceramics with a contemporary studio craft collection and how it relates to the broader contemporary art context, and assist with research and development of a major traveling exhibition.

Development of strategic collection plan:
-Research and assess existing artists and objects in the craft collection;
-Research and identify potential craft acquisitions and present them to curatorial team and collections committee;
-Identify major international trends and cross-currents in the field.

Assist with the organization of pan-craft exhibition and attendant publication:
-Participate in all planning for craft exhibitions, including coordinating with collection assessment, writing, education, publicity and outreach;
-Write artist profiles for publication;
-Consult with registrar on related collection activities;
-Coordinate collection photography.

Facilitate visiting artist lectures, workshops and residences:
-Research potential visiting artists;
-Work closely with ASU faculty, museum curators in scheduling and facilitating visit;
-Coordinate lectures, workshops, class sessions and community partnerships with both emerging and established artists.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of general museum activities experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
-Master’s of Art in the history of decorative arts, material culture studies, studio craft or art/craft history and/or theory.
-Enrolled in a doctoral or post-doctoral program in an accredited U.S. institution or abroad.
-Previous curatorial experience in a museum preferred.

Demonstrated experience in:
-working in an art museum;
-meeting deadlines;
-collaborating and working in a team environment;
-Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook);
-excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills;
-results-oriented with good problem solving skills;
-working independently.

Demonstrated knowledge of curation and care of collections.
