About Northern Clay Center
Northern Clay Center is a nationally recognized ceramic arts organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Northern Clay Center’s mission is the advancement of the ceramic arts. Its goals are to promote excellence in the work of clay artists, to provide educational opportunities for artists and the community, and to encourage the public’s appreciation and understanding of the ceramic arts.

Ongoing programs include: exhibitions by contemporary ceramic artists, as well as historical and architectural ceramics; classes and workshops for children and adults; studio space and grants for artists; and a sales gallery representing 50+ top ceramic artists. Guided tours, hands-on events, and artist demos are available. The facility is handicapped accessible. Other programs, such as the American Pottery Festival, McKnight Residencies, and other fellowship grants, bring national and international artists to the region to continually feed a lively exchange of ideas and aesthetics.

Title: SALES GALLERY & SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER
Reports To: Director
Hours: Full time, with an occasionally flexible schedule

Timeline: Deadline for applications is April 15; tentative start date of May 15, 2015

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, responsible for managing Northern Clay Center’s Sales Gallery, American Pottery Festival, and other special events. It requires an ability to work well with a wide variety of people in a public sales situation. It also requires an ability to work independently, as well as within a group of peer colleagues. The position requires a flexible schedule, with an anticipated one evening per week and one weekend day per month, plus additional hours related to special events.

There are several direct reports to this position: the Sales Gallery Coordinator, the Sales Gallery & Special Events Associate, seasonal Sales Gallery Assistants, and the Online Sales Associate. The Manager is responsible for hiring and managing the regular sales gallery staff of three, with additional staff members on limited tenures during peak sales times. Additionally, the Manager oversees Sales Gallery and online sales related tasks of the Web and Communications Associate.

Title: EDUCATION TECHNICIAN AND RESIDENT ARTIST
Reports to: Head of Education and Artist Service Programs
Hours: 30-34 hours per week on average, schedule determined by Head of Education and Artist
Service Programs.

Timeline: Applications must be received by August 14, 2015. The position will start on October 1, 2015.

The Education Technician is responsible for the daily flow of work created through Northern Clay Center’s education programs—from the management of raw materials to firing clay works—and is an integral part of the community-centered environment at NCC.

This position serves as one of three technicians supporting the Center’s education program, each of which has a list of shared responsibilities and unique responsibilities, which require open communication as a member of the team, with the ultimate coordination of the Head of Education and Artist Service Programs.
