job posting: Executive Director @ The Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts

Position Summary

Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for the overall leadership and administration of The Bray, including artistic direction, strategic programming, business operations, financial management, fundraising, community engagement, and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. The Executive Director will oversee the daily operations of the organization, providing leadership in the areas of program compliance, quality assurance, program efficiency, and fiscal integrity. They will manage staff and be responsible for the direction and execution of all programs, including artists in residence, visiting artists, education, exhibitions, sales gallery, and ceramic supplies.

The Executive Director will be actively in engaged in the world of contemporary ceramic art and will work to attract top artists. This person will activate their broad knowledge of and passion for ceramics and contemporary art to deepen the Bray’s global impact and build on its more than 70 years of success. Serving as The Bray’s primary ambassador to the local, national, and international clay community, the Executive Director will inspire excellence and provide leadership to ensure the resources, systems, and structures are in place to meet The Bray’s strategic goals and community needs. The Executive Director will value and prioritize equity and diversity, creating an environment that is sustainably inclusive, while working creatively and collaboratively to build strong external relationships with individuals and institutions.

Bidding on all lots begins Saturday, July 24th at 10am MDT. The Heritage Auction lots will close on Thursday, July 29th, at 7 p.m. (MDT). The Premiere Auction lots will close on Thursday, July 29th at 7:15 p.m. (MDT).

The General Auction lots will close at 7 p.m. (MDT) on Friday, July 30th.

The Cup Auction lots will close at 7:15 p.m. (MDT) on Friday, July 30th.

The Experience Auction lots will close at 7:30 p.m. (MDT) on Friday, July 30th.

Bidding on all lots will begin on Saturday, July 24th at 10am (MDT).

How To Bid and Donate:

1. Use the top-left menu to view the Heritage Auction items, Premiere Auction items, General Auction items, Cup Auction Items, and Experience Auction items. Also use the left hand menu bar to access My Bids or Make a Donation.

2. To bid, select an item, enter your amount and then click ‘Place Bid’. Use the ‘Max Bid’ function and the system will bid for you up to the maximum amount entered.

3. Register your details and then ‘Confirm Your Bid’.

4. Receive outbid text notifications and bid again!

Shipping

Shipping is not included in the buy price of the auction lots. You will be contacted with additional shipping expenses 1-2 weeks after the close of the auction. We do our best to keep these expenses as minimal as possible. Local pick up is also available. Please expect 1-3 weeks to receive your auction items.

Archie Bray Online Sale live today!

The Archie Bray Foundation will be having an online Spring Sale May 9, beginning at 10 am through May 29, featuring the work of our resident artists. With the cancellation of our annual Mother’s Day Pots and Plants Sale on campus, we are excited about the opportunity to bring you a wide variety of vases, planters and functional pottery as well as sculpture, jewelry and 2D work.

New work will be added weekly, so be sure to check back often and watch the Bray Instagram (archie_bray) or Facebook page for updates on new pieces.  Work can be shipped internationally and local pick up options will also be available.

As we are all adjusting to the conditions related to COVID-19 concerns, the Bray staff are looking for new ways to reach out to our community while we are closed to the public. We are eager to engage with you and to provide an opportunity to connect during this unprecedented time.

Watch for weekly broadcasts from the Bray on Instagram Live and Facebook Live from the Bray to share different aspects of our campus and programs and provide an opportunity for our supporters to offer feedback.

The first broadcast will take place this Monday, March 23 at 1 pm mountain time. Our Director, Steven Young Lee, will live broadcast from his studio, throwing porcelain cups and answering questions from you about what’s happening at the Bray or about his work. We hope to see you then! Stay well.
