Call for entry: CraftArt 2011


Florida Craftsmen’s CraftArt 2011 returns to the great outdoors on Saturday, November 19th & Sunday, November 20th, just outside the doors of Florida Craftsmen Gallery, at the crossroads of Central Avenue and Fifth Street North in beautiful Downtown St. Petersburg.
One of the most eagerly anticipated arts events each year by collectors and patrons, as well as by locals and visitors who plan a long weekend around the show, CraftArt features some of the nation’s best established and emerging fine craft artists with handmade works in jewelry, clay, fiber, glass, wood, metal, paper, mixed media, original woodcuts and lithographs.

Call for artists: 2nd International Ceramic Triennial UNICUM 2012 – Slovenia


The emphasis is on popularization as well as presentation of contemporary ceramics as an independent area in the field of artistic creation. Triennial is connection between international and Slovene space and it gives fresh insight into artistic ceramics. Its intention is to search through elementary artistic research in connection with contemporary though; the character of contemporaneity is given by individualism, development of personal artistic language and enriched by traditional influences of old technologies.

International Triennial of Ceramics Unicum 2012 contains competitive part and accompanying events and exhibitions.

RULES
Call for applications is international and public.
Any individual artist or group of artists who work in this media (ceramics) may participate in the II. International Triennial of Ceramics Unicum 2012.
Members of the organizing committee, international jury and invited authors are not allowed to take part in the competitive part of triennial.
Each participant is allowed to submit up to three entries among which the international jury will make the selection.
Artworks without any ceramic techniques, technologies or approaches will be rejected. Ceramic artworks can include other materials which must not predominate.
By applying the artist assures that each ceramic artwork was created within last three years.
Costs of sending and returning artworks are author’s responsibility.

Applications
Applications to the competitive part of triennial with all documentation required should be sent via post or by e-mail.

Each author has to deliver:

  • Correctly filled entry form;
  • Three photographs of each ceramic artwork in required format and quality for printing.
  • All photos should be in JPG or TIF format, 300 dpi and marked as on the entry form.
    With application each author also allows the organizer to use all information from received documentation for promotion and the catalogue of the triennial.
    The organizer of the triennial does not take any responsibility for published information given by the authors in the application. The author is taking full responsibility for correctness of the information about him/her and his/her artwork.
    The organizer will not return the material that will be sent with applications. All the material will be kept in the archives of the triennial as a part of applications documentation.
    Artworks which will be selected on the base of received photographs authors can not exchange or replace with other artworks.

    Deadline for applications

    Deadline for application is 31st October 2011.
    The organizer will not consider incomplete applications.

    11 UK makers will be exhibiting work at the highly acclaimed Talente exhibition, part of the International Trade Fair for the Skilled Trades in Munich. In existence since 1980 and held annually, Talente is one of Europe’s most prestigious showcases for emerging talent in the areas of design, technology and craft.

    The Crafts Council has once again acted as mentor for the Talente exhibition, encouraging selected makers to apply for this prestigious competition, which reflects high quality talent put forward via a network of mentors from all over the world.

    Participants showcased are selected by a European jury and are of a high standard reflecting the ideas of young people with an experimental approach to materials and craft techniques. It offers a European platform enabling new makers to launch their creative careers to the wider European market.

    General Information

    Since 1979 the Talente organisers have collaborated with training institutions, academies, universities and arts and crafts organisations throughout the world, who put forward their nation’s best people for the competition. The Crafts Council has once again acted as mentor, encouraging selected makers to apply to exhibit recent work at Talente 2011. The world-wide network assures a unique view of trends and questions which concern young people in arts and crafts, making visitors aware of trends and currents, and of the coming generation of designer makers and inventors.
