The Studio Manager in the point-of-contact for new and current studio members, Artists-in-Residence, and students. A successful Studio Manager is reliable, organized, takes initiative, works independently, and has excellent communication and management skills. (S)he will be responsible for the smooth operation of the ceramics studio, maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules, and enforcing studio policies. Cleanliness is very important. (S)he must be able to manage inventory and organize/initiate orders of required materials and equipment. Communicating studio material and financial needs with GM is a regular occurrence. The Studio Manager will be responsible for the administration and hiring of class and workshop instructors, as well as assisting in the preparation and operation of workshops and special events.

Red Star Studios is a growing organization, with an entrepreneurial spirit. The Studio Manager has substantial input on studio policies and programming and, as such, this position has great potential to grow with the organization.

Requirements:
-Must have experience as a ceramics Studio Manager and a desire to teach and mentor.
-Experienced in throwing and sculpting clay, as well as the firing and loading/unloading of natural gas and electric kilns.
-An overall understanding of glazes, various clay bodies, along with other materials and tools used in the ceramic arts.
-Basic Computer skills. Familiarity with Google’s suite of services is a plus.
-Must be able to lift 50lbs
-College degree helpful, but not required with sufficient experience.

Studio Manager will be provided with a studio membership, at no cost, that can be used on his/her own time.
Studio Technician/Coordinator – Apply by Email

The Studio Technician/Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of kilns, wheels, and other studio equipment. (S)he will be responsible for kiln firings and safety, as well as the supervising and training of residents on the same. Cleanliness is very important. (S)he will be responsible for setting and maintaining a firing schedule. The Studio Technician/Coordinator will assist the Studio Manager is material inventorying, organizing and ordering. (S)he will also assist the Studio Manager in standard studio operations.

Requirements:
-Must have experience as a ceramics Studio Technician and be well organized.
-Experienced in firing and loading/unloading of natural gas and electric kilns. Soda and wood-firing a plus, but not required.
-Experienced in mixing and recycling clay and mixing glazes.
-An overall understanding of glazes, various clay bodies, along with other materials and tools used in the ceramic arts.
-Basic Computer skills. Familiarity with Google’s suite of services is a plus.
-Must be able to lift 50lbs
